Lighting Up Fairfax for Chanukah

— The City celebrated Chanukah last Thursday night, Dec. 14, with an event called “Light Up Fairfax.” The fun included a fire eater, jelly doughnuts, hot apple cider and potato latkes. Rabbi Sholom Deitsch, of the Fairfax-based Chabad Lubavitch of Northern Virginia, talked about the meaning of Chanukah, and

Tyler Fyre wowed the crowd by eating fire.

Braving freezing temperatures, U.S. Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-11) and Fairfax Mayor David Meyer helped Deitsch light a giant menorah next to the City’s Christmas tree in Old Town Square. Then Meyer told event attendees, “This is the season of hope.”
