Online registration for the 2013 Northern Virginia Senior Olympics is open Deadline to register online is Aug. 30. The fee is $12. Participants can register online at www.nvso.us. Events take place Sept. 7-19 at 17 venues throughout Northern Virginia. Call 703-228-4721 for more.
Saturday/Sept. 7
Opening Ceremonies, Track and Rowing Events, Exhibits. 9 a.m. at Thomas Jefferson Community Center, 3501 S. 2nd St., Arlington. Free; open to the public.
Diving Competition. 3 p.m. at Yorktown High School pool, 5200 Yorktown Blvd., Arlington. Free; open to the public.
Sunday/Sept. 8
Cycling Competition. 10K, 8 a.m. and 20K, 9 a.m., at Northern Fauquier Community Park, 4155 Monroe Parkway, Marshall. Free; open to the public.
Monday/Sept. 9
Events. Team line dancing, women's eight ball pool, racquetball and ten pin bowling. Events will take place at the James Lee Community Center Theatre, Falls

Senior Olympic Events. Wii bowling, eight ball pool (men), bocce, tennis (singles 50-69), horseshoes, handball, softball hit and throw, football throw and yo-yo tricks competition will take place at the Greenspring Retirement Community, Springfield; Lincolnia Senior Center, Alexandria; City of Fairfax Senior Center, Fairfax; Lincolnia Senior Center, Alexandria and Wakefield District Park, Annandale. Volleyball and Basketball Competition. Volleyball games will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the Charles Houston Recreation Center, Alexandria. Men's and women's basketball free throw and field goals plus men's 3v3 games will be held beginning at 11 a.m. at the Thomas
