Fairfax Library Foundation Awards Continuing Education Scholarships

The Fairfax Library Foundation has announced that 13 Fairfax County Public Library employees and volunteers have each been awarded Continuing Education scholarships to foster the professional development of the Fairfax County Public Library team.

Beth Anderson Lee, Young Adult librarian at Pohick Regional Library, will participate in a “What’s New in Young Adult Literature” seminar offered by the Bureau of Education & Research.

Nancy Bronez, Youth Services manager at Thomas Jefferson Library, is to participate in the “Book as iPad App. Multimedia” seminar sponsored by the American Library Association.

Sondra Eklund, Youth Services manager for the City of Fairfax Regional Library, will attend “ALA Midwinter Meeting & William Morris Invitational Seminar,” sponsored by the American Library Association and Association for Library Service to Children.

Jill Johnson, Sunday manager at Centreville Regional Library, David Mercer, computer technician at Sherwood Regional Library and Lorton Library, and Emily Riley, librarian at Thomas Jefferson Library, will attend the Virginia Library Association Annual Conference: “Libraries: Adding Value to Our Communities” sponsored by the Virginia Library Association.

Nancy Klein, Youth Services manager at Burke Centre Library, is to take part in the Virginia Master Naturalist Program sponsored by the Virginia Department of Forestry.

Matthew Moffett, assistant branch manager at Burke Centre Library, and Kimberly Ventrella, Youth Services manager at Patrick Henry Library, will attend the American Library Association’s Annual Midwinter Conference sponsored by the American Library Association.

Shari Randall, Youth Services information assistant at Kingstowne Library, will attend the Malice Domestic Conference sponsored by Malice Domestic, Ltd.

Susanne Johnson, Information and Youth Services assistant at Pohick Regional Library, and Delia Ullberg, Youth Services manager at Oakton Library, are to attend the “What’s New in Children’s Literature and How to Use it in Your Program” seminar offered by the Bureau of Education & Research.

Laura S. Wickstead, Virginia Room librarian at City of Fairfax Regional Library, will attend National Institute on Genealogical Research sponsored by the National Archives and Records Administration, National Genealogical Society, Federation of Genealogical Society, and others.
